Are you worried about obesity?

Lambeth Council and Lambeth Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) have joined together to ask people what they think about Lambeth’s weight management services.

Whilst obesity rates across the borough are estimated to be lower than the national average, being overweight or obese can increase the risk of chronic diseases including diabetes, high blood pressure, and strokes. The council and the CCG are working together to increase opportunities for people to live healthier lives. This includes making weight management services available to Lambeth residents.

The proposals:

  • A one-stop ‘Healthy Lambeth’ web page to provide local people with information, advice and signposting regarding healthy weight, physical activity and related health issues such as mental well-being promotion, smoking cessation and sexual health services.
  • Working with local GPs and other health and social care staff to raise the issue of unhealthy weight, support people to make changes and make referrals to the most appropriate services.
  • Targeting weight management services to those communities with the greatest need from conditions linked to unhealthy weight and obesity.

It is believed that through working together, the council and CCG, will be able to better support people to maintain a healthy weight.

Closes on Thursday August 30
