The Mayhew animal charity have outreach projects to help people in the community to look after their pets.

If you need to go into hospital for a short-term stay but have no one to look after your dog or cat, you may be eligible for help under Mayhew’s Pet Refuge programme.

They will take care of your pet while you receive treatment or recover from illness, allowing you to get the treatment you need reassured that your pet is in expert hands. Mayhew is a local animal welfare charity working to improve the lives of dogs, cats and people in our communities.

The Pet Refuge Programme can be used by anyone within the M25 and can be for a maximum of three months. Your pets will be kept at the Mayhew centre.

We have found this programme to be very beneficial for people admitted into hospital or into rehabilitation as it decreases stress surrounding there pet care but also prevents people putting off operations/rehabilitation if they can’t find the care for their pets.
