King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust are looking for volunteers to provide emotional and compassionate support to people waiting in the Trust’s Accident and Emergency Department.
Malcolm Tunnicliff, Clinical Director for Emergency Medicine says:
“We always aim to see patients as quickly as possible but sometimes they have to wait longer than we would like. The additional volunteers will be able to provide practical and emotional help, complementing the work of our busy clinical teams”.
The Trust is seeking volunteers over the age of 50 who can commit to 15 hours a week. You will learn new skills, meet new people and have fun.
Petula Storey, Head of Volunteering, says:
“Our patients tell us that compassion, emotional support and a friendly face is what’s important to them. The new intensive volunteering programme supports both patients and staff, to improve the quality of care and experience for each person that comes through the doors of our A&E”.
