Chief Executive – Mairéad Healy

Mairéad leads Healthwatch Lambeth, overseeing the running of the organisation and making the case for change to improve health and social care outcomes for local people. Mairéad is an experienced chief executive, having previously been CEO of both a children’s mental health service and a youth charity. She is also an elected councillor on Cambridge City Council, where she also serves as the member with responsibility for the Health and wellbeing, anti-poverty and equalities portfolio. She previously worked for an international human rights organisation, where she was part of the leadership team and was appointed to the Youth Justice Board for England and Wales by the previous Prime Minister. She has experience as a Governor of an NHS Trust and has sat on the grant committee of a high profile grants body. She also worked for the European Commission earlier in her career and for the Traveller Movement where she authored the first ever dedicated report to the UN on GRT discimination in the UK. She is passionate about addressing health inequalities and ensuring those without a voice are empowered to have their voices heard.

Vanita Bhavnani – Research, Impact and Information Manager

Vanita leads the development of our impact and research work which is crucial to our strategy in understanding health inequalities across the borough. This involves effective and efficient monitoring and evaluation of HWL’s projects and services.

She manages our information and signposting service available to the public in Lambeth, supporting residents, and leads on our public facing communications to ensure we communicate the impact of our work.

 

Before joining Healthwatch Lambeth, Vanita worked as an evaluation professional and social researcher in the not-for-profit sector and academia. Her work encompassed designing, conducting and managing outcome and process evaluation and health service research projects aimed at improving access to health and community services and tackling inequalities. Vanita has also designed and facilitated training in the use of theory of change and evaluation approaches. She has worked for the Alzheimer’s Society, NCT and academic departments in University of London member institutions.

Anna D'Agostino photo

Anna D’Agostino – Engagement Officer

Anna is passionate about gathering people’s views to ensure that Lambeth residents have an equal voice in the design and delivery of health and social care services our borough. She has over ten years’ experience in community engagement and health and wellbeing projects management and has worked extensively with people from minority ethnic backgrounds, older people and unpaid carers. Besides her university studies in Political Science, she holds mental health qualifications and experience, including delivering the Adults Mental Health First Aid course. She is keen on raising awareness of mental health.

Before joining Healthwatch Lambeth, Anna worked as a community worker for a variety of charities, including Croydon BME Forum, Independent Age, Age Concern (before becoming Age UK) and the Brain and Spine Foundation.

Anna has been an engagement officer at Healthwatch Lambeth since 2021. As part of the engagement team, she has gathered people feedback on their experience of healthcare services and managed mental health events.

Claire Daly – Communications and Administrative Officer

Claire leads communication and social media for Healthwatch Lambeth, along with providing administrative support and coordinating volunteers.

Originally from California, she previously worked in marketing for her alma mater, University of California, Berkeley. While at Berkeley, Claire studied Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus on gender and science and minored in Human Rights. She also holds a degree in Political Humanities with a minor in Sociology from Sciences Po in France.

Outside of work, Claire enjoys knitting and exploring London.

Eulalia Gurza-Gonzalez – Outreach and Signposting Officer 

As Outreach and Signposting Officer, Eulalia is the first point of contact for anyone seeking to share feedback about a service or seeking information about health and social care in Lambeth. She will also go out into the community, speaking to residents and working with local organisations to better understand the landscape of support in Lambeth. 

Eulalia grew up in Mexico City but has been living in London since 2017. She speaks English, Spanish, and French. She has a BSc in Sociology from the London School of Economics and Political Science and has worked as a research assistant in numerous healthcare projects, in the UK and abroad. She also worked as Peer Supporter for her university’s Counselling Service, supporting fellow students struggling with their mental health. Eulalia is passionate about addressing health inequalities and ensuring people’s voices are heard.

HWL Staff

Caroline O’Neill – Engagement Officer

Caroline leads our engagement with Primary Care Networks across Lambeth.

She works in partnership with stakeholders to ensure the community voice is an integral part of service design and delivery.

Caroline has worked in community organisations for over 20 years, with experience in Australia, the USA and the UK.

She worked in Stakeholder Engagement at Carers UK, where she reviewed the types of services available to carers in different local authorities of London and facilitated focus groups with carers to understand how technology can help them in their caring role.

Caroline brings a passion for research and community development to her work, and looks forward to working with the many community groups already doing great work in Lambeth.
