Lambeth Council is urging everyone over the age of 11 who lives or works in Lambeth to take a Covid-19 PCR test as soon as possible.

Lambeth Council are asking people to get tested to help us track any potential infections after new cases of the Covid-19 variant first identified in South Africa were detected in south London.

You should get a PCR test as soon as possible, whether you have Covid-19 symptoms or not. If you have been vaccinated you should still get tested.

The test you take will be checked to see if you have Covid-19. If you test positive, it will be checked to find out whether you have the variant. This is called enhanced testing.

PCR tests are the type checked in laboratories and can detect variants of the virus, unlike the rapid tests, which produce results on the spot, that you may have taken in your school, workplace, or at one of our rapid testing sites.

Get a test now

If you have Covid-19 symptoms, have tested positive for Covid-19, or have been in contact with someone who has, you must self-isolate.

Local support is available, including help with practical things like shopping and medication. You may be eligible for a £500 support payment if you are on a low income.

Enhanced testing helpline

If you have questions about the enhanced testing you can call 020 7926 5559 for more information. The line is open from 10am to 4pm every day.
