The South-East London Patient Group will be a group of 12 people across South-East London who have lived experience of health and social care services in the area. The aim is to bring views and experiences of this group together to help influence and improve local services.

We are committed to creating a group which is reflective of our local communities. We particularly welcome applications from Black and minority ethnic individuals and those from other under-represented backgrounds.

About Healthwatch Lambeth

We are the independent champion for people who use health and social care services in Lambeth. We’re here to make sure that those running services put people at the heart of care.

Our sole purpose is to understand the needs, experiences and concerns of people who use health and social care services and to speak out on their behalf. We work to get services right for now and the future.

Role Description

Alongside patient group members from Bexley, Bromley, Greenwich, Lewisham, and Southwark, you will work with us to ensure that the views of patients, carers and families are taken into consideration when health services are being planned or developed across south-east London. You will help facilitate the “patient voice” being heard by key decision makers who decide where the money is put and how services are delivered.

The group is chaired by the Director, South East London Healthwatch. The director will gather what the group says and use the insight to influence decisions being made within key bodies including the South East London Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), the Integrated Care System, and health and care services in Lambeth and throughout south-east London. Please see the Role Description for more information.

The role is not paid, but out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed for travel, refreshments, care of dependants, including children, administration costs, e.g. data charges/mobile phone minutes, postage, phone calls, stationery, cost of attendance at events/courses when participating on behalf of the Healthwatch South-East London Patient Group.

Most meetings will be held on digital platforms. Occasional meetings in Lambeth and central London may be required.

Time commitment

Up to six 1.5 hour group meetings per year, plus occasional strategic meetings as required. Each session will require reading/review of related papers. There may be opportunities to join sub-committees and/or advisory groups, depending on your interests and areas of expertise.

We want to enable participation of anyone and aim to accommodate any accessibility needs where possible. Please get in touch to further discuss how we can help enable your participation.
