Abuse and neglect can take many forms. Sometimes it is not obvious that this is happening. There is lots of information available to you.

Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility, but it can be difficult to understand where you need to turn to report suspected neglect or abuse. Here is a list of resources about keeping safe and getting help if you are concerned about yourself or someone else.

Safeguarding Children

  • Lambeth Safer Children - The Lambeth Safeguarding Children Partnership (LSCP) brings together a range of statutory and voluntary organisations working with and for children and young people in Lambeth.
  • NSPCC – The foremost charity focussed on the protection of children, the NSPCC provides information to better understand child abuse and how to safeguard children

Safeguarding Adults

  • The Lambeth Safeguarding Adults Board provides information on adult safeguarding and abuse. Its page covers a range of issues and has resources including posters, policies and Easy Read leaflets on different types of abuse which can be downloaded from the Lambeth Safeguarding Adults Board website. If you have safeguarding concerns and are not sure who to talk to, they have provided a useful resources here.
  • Ann Craft Trust is also a leading source of useful information about abuse and keeping safe. 
  • dasl has produced a guide to different types of abuse and what a Safeguarding Enquiry is (in relation to adults with care and support needs) and how an advocate can support you during this process. Contact them if you would like a copy.
  • Relay UK is a service that can help d/Deaf people or people with hearing or speech difficulties communicate with anyone over the phone. See their website or download their app for support.

Safeguarding Adults

Hourglass is the UK's only charity focused on the abuse and neglect of older people and has a free-to-call (or text) helpine as well as many other useful resources. 

Reporting safeguarding concerns in Lambeth
