Annual Report 2024-2025

Healthwatch Lambeth is pleased to present its Annual Report for 2024-2025, highlighting a year of significant achievements and ongoing commitment to improving health and social care services in the borough.

As your local champion for health and social care, Healthwatch Lambeth ensures that the voices of residents are heard by decision-makers, contributing to meaningful improvements in care.

Chief Executive of Healthwatch Lambeth, Folake Segun commented:

“On behalf of the Healthwatch Lambeth team, I am delighted to share how we have listened, analysed, and acted on your feedback to drive change, improve services, and reduce inequalities. The effectiveness and success of our work to improve care relies on your feedback, and we thank you for sharing your views with us.”

Community Engagement and Impact

  • Over 830 people shared their experiences with Healthwatch Lambeth, helping raise awareness of issues and improve care.
  • 16,200 individuals came to us for guidance and information on topics such as finding help with prescription costs, reaching social prescribers, and making a complaint about NHS services.
  • 39 reports and updates about improvements were published, in areas like pharmacy services, digital access in primary care, and inpatient mental health care.

Key Initiatives and Achievements:

  • Mental health care: Our recommendations following a visit to the Luther King Ward led to lasting improvements in communication, involvement in care, and 24/7 access to refreshments, creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for patients and carers.
  • Extra Care schemes: Our reporting and recommendations to an Extra Care scheme led to stronger communication, more meaningful social activities, and a more connected living environment for residents and staff.

  • Pharmacy and dentistry: Our insights into residents’ experiences of pharmacy and dentistry contributed to local strategic plans: the Lambeth Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment and the London Assembly Health Committee’s investigation into dentistry.
  • Primary care: Following our report on Reducing Digital Exclusion, practices in Fiveways PCN now offer regular drop-in sessions where staff support patients to use online services, improving digital literacy and reducing exclusion.
