Mental Health Crisis Line Moving to NHS 111

From 1 April 2026, the SLAM Mental Health Crisis Line has moved to NHS 111. Anyone experiencing a mental health crisis or concerned about a friend or relative should call NHS 111 for support.
From 1 April 2026, call NHS 111 for 24/7 Mental Health Crisis Support in Lambeth.

South London and Maudsley Foundation Trust (SLAM) are completing the transition of their crisis line to NHS 111 (press 2).

From 1 April, the previous standalone number (0800 731 2864) will close, making 111 the single access point for anyone in urgent mental health distress.

You’ll still reach the same local crisis teams - this change of numbers just makes it easier and quicker to access help through NHS 111. Anyone, of any age, experiencing a mental health crisis, or worried about a friend or family member, should call NHS 111 and select the mental health option.

What is NHS 111 for mental health?

NHS 111 for mental health is designed to support anyone experiencing a mental health crisis, those concerned about a friend or loved one, as well as fellow Blue Light services and healthcare professionals supporting those in crisis.

NHS 111 for mental health has been in place for South London residents since December 2023, and is a key route to urgent support for patients, partners, and the wider community.

Over the last two years, 111 has delivered strong performance. Now, south London NHS mental health trusts are transitioning to be part of this service, beginning with the SLAM Crisis Line.
